Launch Alert | #KTRACE Project
We are pleased to announce the launch of Kebbi -Tracking for Accountability and Equitable Immunization (K-TRACE) Project, a transformative initiative being implemented by Centre for Health Economics and Development (CHECOD) in collaboration with Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development under the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance CSO Funding Mechanism managed by MannionDaniels, to support the Kebbi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA).
While progress has been made in routine immunization, many children in Kebbi State particularly those living in hard-to-reach, underserved, and missed settlements remain zero-dose or under-immunized, leaving them vulnerable to vaccine-preventable diseases.
The #KTRACE Project is committed to reaching some of the most unserved and underserved children with life-saving routine immunization services. By December 2027, the project aims to identify and vaccinate 30% of the estimated 212,842 #ZeroDose children across these seven priority LGAs in Kebbi State: Argungu, Birnin Kebbi, Danko-Wasagu, Maiyama, Koko-Besse, Yauri, and Zuru.
Recognizing that access alone is not enough, the project also addresses household-level non-compliance by partnering with traditional leaders and the Emirate Council to strengthen community trust, promote vaccine acceptance, and encourage caregivers to utilize routine immunization services.
Through the #KTRACE Project, @CHECOD will work alongside Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development, seven Community Based Organizations (CBOs), the KSPHCDA, Local Government Authorities Health Department, traditional institutions, health facility staff and other community structures across the seven priority LGAs.
The project will focus on:
Identifying and referring #ZeroDose and under-immunized children for routine immunization.
Strengthening community mobilization and demand for immunization services.
Engaging traditional and religious leaders to address vaccine hesitancy.
Building the capacity of CBOs and community mobilizers.
Improving immunization data quality, supportive supervision, and evidence-based planning.
Providing Technical Assistance for the development state, LGA and health facility Annual Operational Plan
Evidence-based advocacy for the timely release of LGA RI budget lines
Strengthening Government systems and accountability for sustainable immunization delivery.
