The Jigawa State Ministry of Health, with funding support from UNICEF, conducted a five-day technical review and validation of its 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) from 21–25 September 2026 at Hotel Seventeen, Kaduna State.
The workshop brought together the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Hon. Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi; members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health; senior government officials; heads of health agencies; directors; programme officers; and representatives of development and implementing partners.
The workshop aimed to align planned activities with Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB) interventions, identify and eliminate duplication and overlaps, strengthen activity costing, and finalise a realistic and responsive 2027 Health Sector AOP.
CHECOD’s technical assistance focused on supporting the planning process through:
- Reviewing the 2027 AOP Situation Analysis (SITAN).
- Assessing and aligning operational activities across MDAs and programme areas with prioritised interventions and the MEARL Plan.
- Guiding programme officers on activity costing and reviewing cost items.
- Providing technical insights on Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) and the prioritisation of related interventions.
- Facilitating discussions on integrating development partners’ commitments into the state’s health priorities.
- Applying the combined-function review approach to identify duplication, address overlapping activities, and promote integrated planning across MDAs and programme areas.
The exercise strengthened stakeholders’ understanding of the AOP development process and improved the alignment, coordination, and costing of planned interventions, marking significant progress towards a more realistic, coordinated, and implementable 2027 AOP for Jigawa State.
