From 28 September to 1 October 2026, the Anambra State Ministry of Health convened a four-day workshop at Mayroses Hotel, Awka, for the development, harmonisation, and finalisation of the 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP), with funding support from UNICEF and GIZ.
The workshop brought together programme officers, departments, agencies, and other health sector stakeholders to strengthen the alignment of planned activities with the Health Sector Strategic Blueprint (HSSB) 2023–2027, SWAp priorities, and the State Annual Budget.
Our team provided technical support throughout the workshop by:
- Reviewing and providing technical guidance on activities to ensure alignment with relevant HSSB objectives, priority initiatives, and interventions.
- Supporting participants in developing clear, SMART, realistic, and costable activities, including specifying implementation locations, milestones, and cost drivers.
- Providing guidance on resource mapping and the identification of funding gaps to strengthen planning and resource mobilisation.
- Supporting participants in reviewing Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) indicators and setting appropriate baselines and targets.
- Providing technical support on the Budget Preparation Module, including mapping Chart of Account programme and project codes to AOP activities.
- Demonstrating the Quarterly Review Tool and guiding participants on the use of the Financing, Performance, Summary, and Graph components for monitoring AOP implementation.
By the end of the workshop, participants had strengthened their capacity to develop a coordinated, costed, measurable, and implementable 2027 AOP that responds to Anambra State’s health sector priorities.
