CHECOD provided technical contributions in LAFIYA Programme, this programme is UK support to health transformation in Nigeria. The programme is a flexible, demand-led strategic partnership with the Nigerian Federal and targeted State governments, designed to address equity, improve, and sustain health outcomes for the most vulnerable States with the worst health statistics. The desired objective of the programme includes fostering an enabling environment for UHC policy reform and implementation, institutional management capacity building and health system strengthening. CHECOD has made technical contributions to the health-sector planning at the Federal level and in five states: Borno, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano and Yobe.

Amongst various health sector planning activities by Lafiya programme, CHECOD supported the activation of planning cells in Kano, Jigawa and Yobe State. This entails the functionality in planning and budgeting, effective coordination among health sector departments, agencies, and programs (DAPs), and integrated development of the health system. This will enhance effective implementation of the SSHDP II (2018-2022) interventions within the context of ONE PLAN, ONE FRAMEWORK AND ONE M&E. To this effect, CHECOD conducted capacity building to activate a functional sector-wide planning cell in three states. The workshops were chaired by Health Sector planning representatives from health sector departments, agencies, and programs (DAPs)and development partners.
