Mr. Paul Akeni, MSc (Development Studies)

Paul obtained B.Sc. Hons (Accounting) from University of Lagos, Nigeria and M.Sc. (Development Studies) from Benue State University, Makurdi, Nigeria. He is a Development Program Specialist possessing crosscutting competencies in public health administration, public health financing, public expenditure management, socio-economic research, community emancipation initiatives and program implementation operations. His working experiences span through development program operations anchored by various entities such as: BASICS-USAID; Association against Poverty & Ill-Health (NGO); PATHS-DFID; Support to National Malaria Control (SuNMap); Federal Ministry of Health; National Health Insurance Scheme.(NHIS); MEMS-USAID – a Monitoring & Evaluation agency; Options-UK; The African PEER Review Mechanism(APRM) facilitated by New Partnership for Africa Development(NEPAD); UNFPA;UNICEF; World Bank.

Specifically he has been involved with study projects covering: National Health Accounts (NHA); Donor Coordination; Donor Mapping Exercise (DME); Public Sector Expenditure Management Review; Health Sector Public Expenditure Reviews; Medium Term Sector Strategies (MTSS); Design of Community based/CSO participative initiatives; Assessment of CSOs engagement on preparation of MTSS; Community Needs Assessment; Monitoring and Evaluation capacity building workshop. In addition to the above, he worked as member of teams comprised of representatives of government and development partners which had responsibility for preparation of Manuals on ‘Community Based Health Insurance’, ‘National Health Accounts’ and Policy/Technical Notes on some health sector-related issues. These assignments were performed in Nigeria and other sub-regional country such as Liberia.
