CHECOD handled the technical supervisory role during the 2021 National & State Health Account study.  The organization is well-known to provide top-notch technical assistance and support on health financing and economic issues in Africa, and we deployed the best technical support for capacity building in various States. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and it is accompanying financial impact on the country, CHECOD provided technical support for the estimation of COVID-19 sub-account study.

A 5-day capacity building workshop for operationalizing the 2021 National & State Health Account at both the Federal and State level was conducted. The workshop focused on understanding the System of Health Account (SHA) 2011 framework. The workshop involved immense interactive lectures and discussions, practice sessions, role plays, and demonstrations and was concluded with a written assessment. CHECOD provides hands-on training for participants, and the workshop had most of the time allocated for exercises on SHA classification and data collection methodology. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the training using pre-training and post-training knowledge and skill tests indicated that participants fully understood the modules and were fit to develop the state health account. The training protocol was replicated both at the Federal and State level.
