A major area of study that the Centre is planning to explore in the near-term is in the sphere of mental health economics. Specifically, the Centre intends to evaluate the economic effectiveness of mental health finance in Nigeria. It also intends to simulate the resource requirement for scaling-up coverage to cater for effective treatment of this important segment of the vulnerable population in Nigeria.
The study is aimed at equipping health planners and policy-makers with requisite economic and financial information on the need for adequate resources allocation and cost-effectiveness in the utilisation mental health assets.
